Mangaluru: A woman in her 30s drowned in a pond at Varanasi Farm lake of Adyanadka, Vittal here in Dakshina Kannada District.
The woman has been identified as Maizy Carol Fernandes. She was a qualified doctor interested in farming.
According to the sources, she visited the farm and walked around the pond area alone. A search was initiated inside the pond, when she didn’t return after a long time. She was later rescued and was taken to the hospital.
With serious injuries she was brought to a private hospital in Mangaluru after she being initially referred her to Vittal Community Health Centre. The doctors upon examination found that she was no more.
Team led by Nagaraj H.E., a Vittal police officer, have registered a FIR and have commenced an investigation based on a complaint filed by Trista Fernandes of Prashanth Nagar, Mangaluru.
According to the complaint, this was an accidental fall, and there is no suspicion of foul play in this death.
Maizy was not a practising doctor but was deeply interested in agriculture. She is said to have visited the farm a few days ago due to her interest in agriculture and returned back to farms on September 12 after spending three days at home.
