Mangaluru: A 55-year-old woman lost her life after she was struck down by a train while she was crossing the railway track in Sootarpete, Valencia, on Wednesday, March 27.
The deceased woman has been identified as Padma, wife of Raju, a resident of Sootarpete.
According to sources, the woman’s body was found near the railway track on Wednesday morning. The locals immediately informed the railway police of their discovery. They suspect that she was knocked down by the moving train.
Meanwhile, locals have alleged that the incident occurred as there is no railway gate to prevent people from crossing the railway-track the trains are moving.
A case has been registered at the Railway police station in this regard.
