Mangaluru: A 45-year-old woman was injured when a tree branch fell on her in Hampanakatta on Monday, January 28.
The injured woman has been identified as Mercy D’Souza, a resident of Padil.
According to sources, the tree branch fell on a slow-moving bus named Rajarajeshwari (plying from Mangaluru to Kateel), near the bus stop opposite Wenlock Hospital at around 12 PM. Fortunately, the passengers of the bus were not injured in the incident. However, Mercy, who was waiting for the bus, sustained head injuries. The locals immediately rushed the injured woman to Wenlock Hospital, where she is presently recuperating, sources added.
Traffic ACP Manjunath Shetty, when contacted, informed that the condition of the injured woman is stable. “The police department will ask the Mangaluru City Corporation (MCC) and Forest Department to conduct a survey to ensure that no such incident repeats in the future. The trees that are posing a danger to the public should either be cut or its branches should be removed,” he said
