Mangaluru: In order to ensure correct voting by voters registered under “Service Voters” scheme and to exercise their electoral right of franchise with confidence, a workshop was conducted at No 3 Coast Guard District Headquarters (Karnataka), under the aegis of District Election Officer Dakshina Kannada, Mangaluru.
The workshop was conducted under the guidance of Dr Selvamani, IAS, CEO Dakshina Kannada Zila Panchayat, Shri Srinivas Gowda R, IPS, ACP Panambur, Gayathri Nayak, Dy Commissioner Revenue and team of District Election Officer Dakshina Kannada.
The theme for the event was ‘No voters left behind – Accessible Elections’. The voter’s pledge was also administered by the ACP Panambur to all the service personnel. At the workshop a live demonstration on EVM/VVPAT was also conducted under the supervision of District Election Officials. The participants were explained about functioning of Ballot Unit, Control Unit and other allied functions along with operations of the electronic voting machine by the team of District Election Dakshina Kannada.
Speaking on the occasion, DIG SS Dasila, TM, Commander Coast Guard Karnataka described ‘Voting Day’ as a celebration of democracy and emphasized on the importance of every single vote. The event was co-ordinated by Dy Comdt Deepika Dhiman and assisted by Asstt Comdt Neha Barange.
All the service voters pledged to uphold the democratic traditions of the country and also pledged to vote fearlessly, without being influenced by any factor. The event ended with a firm determination by everyone to participate in electoral process.
