Manglauru: The International Yoga Day was jointly celebrated by Father Muller Charitable Institution (FMCI) and its unit members by performing Yoga at the Father Muller indoor stadium on June 21.
U T Khader, State Minister for Urban Development and Housing inaugurated the event.
Lauding FMCI for organising the programme, the minister spoke about the benefits of Yoga. He said, “Yoga is a natural gift to the world. It is the best medicine to relieve stress and tension. The staff and students, apart from performing Yoga, should also educate others about the benefits of the same. Yoga teaches you to breathe and keep yourself fit.”
Director of FMCI Fr. Richard Coelho opined that Yoga keeps diseases at bay. He also said the practice of Yoga, keeps one’s mind and body fit. “It helps us keep our senses and desire under control”, he said and expressed his happiness at seeing people from the various institutions of Father Muller coming together to perform Yoga under one roof.
State minister U T Khader was also felicitated during the programme.
Sunitha D’Souza, Yoga Instructor, Father Muller Homoeopathic Medical College, led the participants in performing Yoga.
Dean of Father Muller Medical College Dr. Jayaprakash Alva, welcomed the gathering. Principal of Father Muller College of Nursing Sr. Jacintha D’Souza, proposed a vote of thanks, and Geetha Rebello, Associate Professor, Father Muller Homoeopathic Medical College compered the programme.
Administrator Fr. Roshan D’Souza, Fr. Rudolph D’Sa, Fr. Vincent Saldanha, Fr. Ajith Menezes, Father Muller Homoeopathic Medical College principal Dr. Shivaprasad K, Fr. Akhilesh P M, Jasmine Saritha and others were present.
