Mangaluru: Veteran Yakshagana Bhagavatha (Playback singer) Patla Sathish Shetty has been selected for the “Srushti Kalabhushana Award”, instituted by Srushti Kala Vidyalaya.
The founder of Srushti Kala Vidyalaya Chayapathi Kanchibail told reporters here on Friday, January 24, that the award will be given in recognition of Patla’s selfless service towards Yakshagana art and for his social service through ‘Yakshadhruva Patla Foundation’. The award will be presented during the decennial year celebration of Srushti Kala Vidyalaya, which will be held at RV Dental College and Hospital, JP Nagar Bengaluru on February 2.
The institution will also be presenting ‘Srushti Kalopasaka Award’ for those who dedicate themselves for art. Veterans singers like Dodda Range Gowda, Vidhyabhushan, Rameshchandra and Archana Udupa have already received Kalopasaka award over the years.
This time, ‘Srushti Kalopasaka Award’ will be presented to magician Prahlad Acharya.
Meanwhile, Mangaluru Urban Development Authority (MUDA) Commissioner Srikanth Rao will be presented ‘Srushti Kalabandhu Award. As part of the decennial celebration, several cultural programmes like Yakshagana, Kathak, Kalaripayattu, Shadowplay, Dollu Kunitha among other programmes will be held, he informed.
Honorary adviser of Srushti Kala Vidyalaya Jithendra Kundeshwara, Lokabhirama and Shankara Murthy Kayarabettu were present.
