Bantwal: BJP State Chief B S Yeddyurappa is all set to meet the families that have been affected by the new Thumbe Vented Dam project, on January 18.
Addressing reporters, BJP Leader Rajesh Naik said that the next course of action will be decided only after having a discussion with BSY.
Naik, condemning the anti-farmer attitude of the district administration and the Mangaluru City Corporation said that the authorities had kept the farmers in dark about filling over 5 mts of water in the new dam.
“How can killing Peter to pay Paul policy be called development? The clandestine move of the authorities will wreck havoc in the lives of the farmers who are surviving on the yield from their fields,” he said adding that the Deputy Commissioner has further said that farmers cannot be drawing water from the river for irrigation from January onwards and further that criminal cases will be filed against the ones violating the same. “The district administration is determined to finish the farmers of the region.
With the government meeting on Yettinahole in state capital meeting failure, he said that the protest against the project will be intensified in days to come.
