Mangalore: A woman along with her two-year-old son jumped into a well at Pachanady on Thursday July 3.Their bodies were discovered on Friday July 4.
The deceased has been identified as 24-year-old Shruthi and her son Pratheek. The husband of the deceased woman has been detained by the police.
On Thursday morning, Shruti’s sister had entered her room to wake Shruti up and found her missing. In fact Shruti had arranged her pillows in such a way to make anyone presume that she was sleeping.
Concerned about her whereabouts, the family members searched for her, but in vain. A missing complaint was lodged thereafter. On Friday morning, they resumed the search, and Shruthi’s father found the bodies in the well.
The police have taken Shruthi’s husband Ramesh Acharya into custody. Ramesh, hailing from Veeranagar, is a goldsmith by profession. However the couple had recently shifted to Shruthi’s mother’s house in Santoshnagar, Pachanady.
Ramesh’s father said that Shruthi never created any problem and her other family members claim that they was no way Shruthi would have committed to suicide. The bodies were shifted to Wenlock.
Kankanady rural police have registered a case and further investigations are on.
Allegations against the husband
Earlier, Ramesh and Shruthi used to stay in Puttur. At that time Shruthi travelled to Mangalore for a beautician course when she became friendly with an elderly couple.
On hearing about Shruthi’s death the couple rushed to Wenlock hospital and alleged that Shruthi was unhappy in her marriage and was facing harassment too.
They narrated the scenario and claimed that Shruthi used to tell them that she had a lot of gold ornaments but they were allegedly taken away by her husband.
