Udupi: Addressing media persons at the World Photography Day organized by the Udupi district Journalist’s Association, on Wednesday, August 27 A Eshwarayya, an art critic ,said that Photography is a tool of art in the media, it has the power to attract and connect readers to a particular news item.
He added that the more connectivity the reader feels, the more responsibility to the photographers. “They have to enlighten messages to the society in short and adequate manner. The pictures are the best sources to reaching to the sentiments of the readers”, he said.
He also spoke about how media has to gain the trust of a reader through its credibility and truthfulness. “A reporter should uphold the accountability, if not, the media organization will vanish from the existence”, he said.
“On one hand, the social media is becoming more powerful and responsible towards the society and on the other, value of media is diverting towards financial values (advertising). Highlighting sensitivity in news is becoming a trend these days. To take the existing situation, photographers should use photograph as an art of expression to captivate the attention of a reader.
He said that media people should strive to maintain objectivity to uphold the belief of the readers and viewers on media.
