Accident victim dies as ambulance runs out of fuel

Karkala: An accident victim died after the ambulance he was taken in, ran out of fuel. The incident took place near Miyar.

The deceased is Ashwath Poojary. He was 21.

According to source, Ashwath and his neighbour Manjunath Poojary were playing in a two-wheeler from Bajagoli towards Karkala. At Kajarabail, Ashwath reportedly tried to overtake a bus and ended up ramming into another bus coming from the opposite end.

After giving first aid treatment in a local hospital, the duo was to be taken to another hospital in Mangaluru.

To their dismay, the ambulance ran out of fuel on the way. The driver took the ambulance to the nearest fuel bunk, but lost about 15-20 precious minutes. By the time the ambulance reached hospital, Ashwath was declared dead. Manjunath is said to battling for life.

Just before the mishap took place he had gone to the Miyar panchayat office to get the wrong date on his birth certificate corrected. But the cruel fate decided on the last date of life as well.
