Udupi: All the 110 assurances made in the previous railway budget have been fulfilled. Railway corridors will be introduced in Mumbai-Delhi, Delhi-Kolkata at a cost of Rs 82,000cr for freight carriage, said Railway Minister Suresh Prabhu.
Inaugurating the new escalator facility at Udupi Railway Station on Monday January 18, setup by the Konkan Railway Corporation, he said that the government has introduced several facilities to befit passengers. Mobile ticket booking, booking food via mobile, good laundry facility, clean drinking water are introduced, he said.
He said that the LIC has invested 1.5 lakh crores in the Railway Department adding that the World Bank also has come forward to invest in the Indian Railways. Measures have been chalked out to develop railway stations, he informed.
Senior Congress leader Oscar Fernandes, BJP leader BS Yeddyurappa, MP Shobha Karandlaje and Kota Srinivas Poojary were present among others.
