Ranebennur/Udupi: Three among the four persons belonging to Hirekeru unit of the Northwest Karnataka Road Transport Corporation (NWKRTC) who gang raped a minor girl on July 5 at the bus stand were nabbed by Udupi police.
The arrested have been identified as Raghun Badigera (35) of Ranebennur unit, Y C Kattekara (45), V R Hiremat (45), conductor and driver respectively at Hirekerur unit.
A 15-year-old girl who came to Hirekerur from Udupi stayed overnight at the Ranebennur bus stand after she failed to board the Ranebennur-Kundapur bus for her return journey.
Capitalising on the situation, the four NWKRTC men raped the girl inside a bus at night. After returning to Udupi, she narrated the incident to her family members.
A case was registered at Udupi Women’s Station following which the police arrested the three accused.
Police have taken the bus into custody while another accused is absconding.
