Udupi: Article–19, India’s oldest core communication fest is back and this year it is being held for four days for the first time, from February 8 to 11 at School of Communications (SOC), Manipal University. The fest will be inaugurated at SOC lobby by Vezwada Wilson, Magsaysay award recipient on February 8 at 10 am.Addressing the media persons at Udupi Press Club on Monday, February 6, programme planner Karthik Rajagopal said that this year’s fest would include esteemed speakers from various backgrounds like Bezwada Wilson, Convener of National Safai Karmachari Andolan; Alex Mathew, India’s first drag queen; Mo Naga, culture conservationist and tattoo artist and Sameer Hashmi, BBC journalist and alumnus of SOC and Community. Workshops are also a part of the itinerary of the four-day fest, including the DSLR Cinematography workshop by wildlife photographer Sripad Sridhar, Journalism workshop by former editor of Communalism Combat Javed Anand and Tales Writing Workshop by Pramitha Nair from The Anonymous Writer, an online tales writing community.
He said in the past, Article –19 has had speakers like Rajdeep Sardesai, P Sainath, Rahul Bose, Satya Saran, Prahlad Kakkar, Nithin Gokhale and a workshop by Terribly Tiny Tales.
Article-19 also brings forward a new logo and mascot this year. The four-day fest, encompassing events like Express Awards and Alt Enter, and many other online and offline competitions, will end with a Las Vegas themed fun fair “Viva Las Vegas” on the February 11. Entry to guest talks is open to the students of all colleges and they can participate in the workshops by registering and praying for the same. Certificates will be provided for each workshop.
