Asma Electronics to lose its license after employees attacked civic worker

Udupi: The license of Asma Electronics will be cancelled by Udupi Municipal Corporation following an attack on a Dalit civic worker by its employees.

Reportedly, the altercation between the civic worker and the employees at Asma Electronics started over issues with waste collection.

City Municipal Council (CMC) President Sumithra Naik said that it was the responsibility of the municipality to protect all its civic workers. He added that it was essential for CMC to express its solidarity with the civic workers.

Talking to reporters, MLA Raghupati said that if the civic workers would not feel safe doing their job if such actions are repeated.

Clarifying rumours about the partiality in the judgement of the assaulters. he added that BJP has decided not to shield the culprits. The statement was released in the light that some of the assaulters were relatives of the BJP minority wing’s district president.

He added that strict action will be taken against the culprits. The absence of four Congress members if CMC in the meeting also led to a huge uproar.
