Bannaje man dies of cold, fever; Samples sent for COVID test

Udupi: A man from Bannanje, who had been suffering from cold, cough and fever for the past three days, died suspiciously on Sunday morning, May 17 sparking rumours that he may have been a COVID-19 positive case.

His throat swab has been sent for test.

Dr Sudeer Chandra Sooda, a health official, said that the report is awaited and it is too early to comment on the death.

The district has witnessed nine cases so far and zero COVID-19 fatalities.
