Udupi: Putting aside party differences, the Opposition has congratulated Kota Srinivas Poojary who has been appointed as Minister in the cabinet of New Chief Minister Basavaraj Bommai. Congress party workers of Shedimane ward have put up a banner congratulating minister Poojary which is now trending on social media platforms. While the Opposition has been magnamimous, netizens seem to have mixed reactions extended by the Congress.
Netizens have compared Kota with veteran BJP Leader former Prime minister Atal Bihari Vajpayee for being admired by the people of opposition.
On Facebook, Muqtar Abbas Ali has commented that it is an honour deserved by a leader who transcends the party barrier. Another user Subramanya Bhatt KG has written that it is a good development. Nagesh Marthaje commented that beyond party bearers, he won the heart. He added that it is a real spirit of democracy.
Meanwhile, Rajkiran Shenoy commented that “We have only two honest people, one Kota Srinivas Poojary and another Haladi Shetty.” Sharanupk PK lauded him as second Vajpayee.
Apart from these many have also alleged on Facebook that BJP itself might have done this in the name of Congress.
Ansar Appu Gadiyar commented, “It might have been done by BJP men?”, Adithya J Bidanooru expressed that ” Congress party has no existence in Udupi and Dakshina Kannada district. But a monopoly of a single party won’t look nice, So BJP men might have paid their rented proxies in disguise working as Congress workers.”
