Udupi: The Supreme Court has denied bail to Niranjan Bhat, a Nandalike based astrologer who has been named as the third accused in NRI Hotelier and Entrepreneur Bhaskar Shetty murder case.
The appeal filed by Niranjan Bhat against the High Court’s denial of bail to him was heard by Supreme Court bench, presided over by Justice S A Bobde, on Tuesday, September 18.
The bench observed that the bail application cannot be favourably considered at this stage, but the bail application can be moved again after complete examination of 36 witnesses.
Niranjan Bhat played a major role in the murder that took place in July 2016. The body of the businessman was burnt in a sacred fireplace at Bhat’s residence at Nandalike and the ashes were cleverly disposed of leaving behind no traces.
