Udupi: The Bharatiya Janatha Party’s (BJP’s) election manifesto for the Udupi Legislative Assembly constituency was released by K. Jayaprakash Hegde, former MP on Saturday, May, 5 at the Country Inn Hotel in Manipal.
Apart from the routine promises like wider roads, supply of water, scientific disposal of solid waste, housing for the poor, cleanliness of the city and a corruption free government, K. Raghupathy Bhat said that the party has promised to reintroduce diesel tax concession for fishermen.
Five more dams have also been promised to be built over the Seetha River. They have also promised to create a special fisheries industrial area for the fisher-folk where they can sell dry fish.
It has also been promised that the elected MLA would meet the people of the constituency once a week.
Taking a more ambitious route, the manifesto also promised a cricket stadium in Beedinagudde, an information technology hub in the constituency, setting up of an ESI Hospital, annual “Udyog Melas” for the youth to find jobs and upgrading of the district hospital and the Malpe Fishing Port.
Dinakar Babu, Dinkar Shetty Herga, Shymala Kundar, Yashpal Suvarna, Jayaprakash Hegde, Mahesh Takur, Prabhakar Bhandari and others were present.
