Udupi : A Brahat Shobha Yatra procession was held here on Saturday, June 1, 2019 before the ‘Prathishta’ ritual of the suvarna gopura of Udupi Krishna Temple.
The Shobha Yatra procession was inaugurated by Sri Vishwesha Theertha Swamiji of Pejawar Math along with Sri Satyatma Theertha Swamiji of Uttaradhi Math, Dr. G. Shankar, President of Shamili Trust Udupi, Dr. H. S. Ballal, Pro-chancellor of Manipal University, Manohar Shetty of Sai Radha group, Dr. Jerry Vincent Dias of Mandavi Developers, Sudhakar Rao Pejawara and others.
Sri Vishwesha Theertha Swamiji of Pejawar Math, Dr. G. Shankar, DR. H S Ballal and Dr. Jerry Vincent Dias were spoke after the inauguration of the procession.
The procession started from Jodukatte near Big Bazar and culminated at Car Street via Old taluk office, Court Road, Diana Circle, K M Marg, Trivani Circle, Service Bus Stand, Kidiyoor Hotel Road, City Bus Stand, Kalsanka, Krishna Math parking area and Vidyodaya Road.
The procession with huge devotees of Lord Krishna was welcomed by Sri Vidyadeesha Theertha Swamiji of Paryaya Palimar Math.
The procession consisted of folk and cultural troupes like Dolu, Biridu Bavali Tattiraya, Iscon Bajana team, Ghatosthcha fancy team, Bedre Chande team, Ganapathy Tableaux, Udupi district Bajana Okkoota team, Karamballi Chende Balaga, Kakkunje Brass Band, Kappettu fancy team, Radhe Krishna Tableaux, Sai Chande and so on.
The ‘prathishta’ ritual of Suvarna Gopura will be held on June 6. On June 2, Bharatiya Gothali Milana’ will be held. Children’s programme will be held on June 3, on June 4 ‘Hasiru Hore Kanike’ will be held on the occasion of Brahmakalashotsava of Lord Krishna. On June 5, World Environment day will be celebrated with distribution of plants and till June 10 various programmes will be organized.
