Udupi: There is a possibility of strong winds and high waves in the Arabian Sea due to a cyclonic disturbance. Over the next four days (until 20th), the Udupi district administration, led by the District Collector Dr. K. Vidya Kumari, has issued a warning to the general public, tourists, children, locals, and fishermen to avoid entering the sea to prevent any untoward incidents.
During the cyclonic period, the waves in the sea are expected to be higher, and wind speeds are predicted to be between 40-45 to 55 km per hour, making the sea turbulent. Therefore, activities such as swimming and playing in the sea are strictly prohibited during this time, as announced by the district authorities.
In case of emergency, citizens can contact the toll-free number 1077 or call the helpline at 0820-2574802 for immediate assistance.
