Udupi: A person wanted in connection with death threats made against BJP OBC Morcha National Chief Secretary Yashpal Suvarna has been arrested by Police on Saturday June 18.
The arrested accused has been identified as Mohammad Shafi of Bajpe, a lorry driver.
Shafi is accused of being the person behind the Instagram handle Maarigudi 06, which issued death threats against Suvarna and Pramod Muthalik. The post included photos of Hindu leaders and offered money of Rs. 10 lakh for their assassination.
The IP address and other evidence from the posts were used to track down the accused, informed the police. He was arrested from Bajpe on June 18.
According to sources, a man named Mohammad Asif assisted Shafi in the crime, and the cops were on the lookout for him.
