Udupi: Minister for Primary and Secondary Education S Suresh Kumar urged all educational institutions not to hike the fees this year.
Addressing the reporters here on Tuesday, June 9, Suresh Kumar said that the government has already sent three circulars to all educational institutions in this regard. “In the first circular, the department has asked the educational institutions not to collect admission fees from the students’ parents until the government announces the date of the schools’ opening. However, after considering the grievances of some educational institutions, the government has sent a revised circular to all educational institutions, allowing them to collect admission fees. In the same circular, it has informed that educational institutions should not force parents to pay the admission or any other fees. In the third circular, the department has asked the educational institutions not to hike the fees this year, owing to the lockdown.”
The Minister also informed that if any educational institution is found forcing the parents to pay the admission fees or hikes the fees, action will be taken against them. “The public can also complain against such educational institutions through the helpline number,” he informed.
