Udupi: The mortal remains of nurse Hazel Mathias of Kuthyar near Shirva arrived today at her native on Thursday, September 27, after a long wait of 71 days.

A wellwisher of Hazel’s family and entrepreneur Denis Noronha, residing in Saudi Arabia for the last 26 years, helped make this happen. Being the power of attorney in the case, Noronha put in rigorous efforts into the process of repatriating her body to India. His efforts and follow up in the case have paid off.

Hazel’s remains arrived in Bengaluru at 7 in the morning on September 27.

As per the sources within the family, the mortal remains are said to be kept at the Manipal Hospital mortuary. From there, it will be moved to her native (mother’s house) at Agardande, Mudarangadi at 12 pm on September 28. Later, it will be moved to her husband’s residence at Kuthyar.

The funeral cortege will leave from her husband’s residence at Kuthyar at 3.30 pm to Our Lady of Health Church, Shirva. The funeral mass will be held at 4 pm.
