Holy dip in Udupi Krishna temple pond turns fatal for Shivamogga youth

Udupi: A youth hailing from Shivamogga drowned in the Holy Madhwa Sarovara in Udupi Sri Krishna temple premises, on Monday morning. The deceased has been identified as Adarsh (39) from Vidyanagar in Shivamogga.

It is said that the incident may have happened around 5.45 am on Monday. It is suspected that Adarsh must have stepped into the water to have holy dip and accidentally drowned after losing body balance.

Fire personnel had rushed to the spot, but they had to struggle for very long time to fish the dead body out. Later, expert divers were pressed into action to retrive the dead body from the temple pond.

Adarsh, who had come to Udupi on a pilgrimage was put up at one of the temple guest houses. The dead body has been sent to mortuary at district hospital. A case has been registered at Udupi town police station.
