Udupi: Journalist and progressive thinker, Dinesh Amin Mattu and four others have been booked for allegedly violating the election model code of conduct, here on Wednesday, March 20.
Dinesh is accused of speaking communally-favouring one particular community and speaking ill about other community, on Sunday, March 17 at a programme called Sarvajanotsav.
The flying squad of the election commission has booked a case stating that it was against the model of conduct key measures– General Conduct, in which the first point says that no party or candidate shall include any activity which creates mutual hatred or cause tension between different castes and communities, religious or linguistic.
The other four accused are Mahendra Kumar, Indudhar Honnapura, G N Nagaraj and Amrut Shenoy.
It may be noted that Amrut Shenoy who was the organiser of the programme will be liable under the section-Meetings, of the key measures of election commission model code of conduct which states that an organiser shall invariably seek the assistance of police on duty while dealing with persons disturbing a meeting or attempting to create disorder.
