Bengaluru: Immediately after receiving the JDS’ B form to contest from the Udupi-Chikkamagaluru Lok Sabha constituency, Congress leader Pramod Madhwaraj posed with a newly designed shawl bearing symbols of both the JDS and the Congress parties. By midnight, the former minister’s shawl went viral. In Bengaluru, Chief Minister H D Kumaraswamy proposed that such a shawl should be worn by the leaders of both the Congress and the JDS, as it may send a positve signal to the voters about the alliance.
Speaking to reporters, Pramod Madhwaraj justified his decision to contest on the JDS ticket saying that he didi it to save the Congress party. Announcing that he will file his nomination papers on March 25, Madhwaraj stated that he will continue to wear this new designer shawl till the end of the election on April 28. “I wanted to be a Congress candidate. But the constituency was allocated to the JDS. So, I decided to contest on the JDS ticket. I am hopeful of an easy win,” he said.
