Udupi: ‘Malpe Sambhrama Beach Festival 2015’ was successfully organised by the Dakshina Kannada and the Udupi Districts Fish Marketing Federation to mark its diamond jubilee on the Malpe Beach, witnessed by a huge audience here on Sunday, March 1.
The Urban Development Minister Vinay Kumar Sorake, inaugurated the function. Entry of film star Dharshan gave a boost to the function, youth were exited to feel his presence at the beach.
The attraction of the jubilee celebration was 28 Kites of different shapes and it dominated at the kite exhibition held by the famous ‘Team Mangalore.’ A ‘cat walk’ on the sands by canines at the dog show was also organised. Competitions on sand art attracted many.
There was all kinds of coastal games, beach volleyball, kabbadi, tug of war and beach throw ball. Traditional fishing method ‘Kai Rampani’ demonstration was an eye opener for the visitors.
A variety of South Indian, Tulu Nadu recipes were displayed. There were also cultural programmes.
Entrepreneur and president of G Shanker Family trust, Nadoja G Shanker, Former MLA Raghupathi Bhat, Lalaji R Mendon, CMC President Yuvaraj, and others were present.
