Karkala: Karkala town police personnel arrested a man for alleged blackmail and rape, after a complaint was filed by a woman.
The accused is identified as Sadiq from Pattonjikatte.
According to reports, the complaint states that the victim came in contact with Sadiq two years back and she had availed a loan of Rs. 15000 from the latter. Later Sadiq began visiting her home demanding loan repayment.
In the complaint, the victim mentioned Sadiq took her to a house in Pattonjikatte, where he sexually assaulted the woman and took her intimate photos which he then used to blackmail her.
He had again called her to his house and tried to rape her but she managed to escape from there and approached the police to register a complaint.
