Police intercepted two cars near the Udyavara checkpost and seized Rs 7 lakh in cash, suspecting its intended use for Lok Sabha election campaigning.
The cash was discovered in the possession of occupants traveling in two separate cars—one journeying from Dharmasthala to Udupi and the other from Mangaluru to Udupi.
Authorities confiscated the money as occupants failed to produce adequate documentation regarding its source.
