Udupi: A Saudi national who was allegedly responsible for the suicide of a nurse from Shirva, Hazel Mathias has confessed to the crime.
Hazel Jothsna Mathias was a nurse at the government-run Al Miqua General Hospital in Saudi Arabia. She had ended her life reportedly due to the steadfast advances of a Saudi national. She had left death note written in Konkani and English, explaining the harassment she had suffered at the hands of the accused.
The investigation carried on by the Police on the basis of the suicide note has now led in the arrest of the man concerned. The accused will now be given sentence as per Saudi law, according to the orders of the court.
The intervening five-day Bakrid holidays have delayed the process of dispatch of the body and thus the body might reach the native place of the lady by month end, sources said.
Hazel, 28 was the wife of Ashwin Mathias from Udupi. She was found dead in July this year under mysterious circumstances.
