Udupi: The district administration has imposed Section 144 within two kilometers radius of the tollgates at Sasthan Gundmi and Hejamady of the district from 10 February 6am to 15 February 10 am as per the order (MAG(2) CR/39/2007 (C-1)) dated 10 February 2017.
The prohibitory order has been imposed following protests on Friday at Sasthan toll gate managed by Navayuga contractors on NH 66.
The police have beefed up security in the area to maintain law and order. Meanwhile, today 90 persons were arrested from Gundmi toll Gate during the protest and were kept in an auditorium at Dharmavara near Brahmavar. The arrested persons were expected be released in the evening today when reports last came in.
