Udupi: On Thursday December 9, Vishwaprasanna Theertha Swami of the Pejawar Mutt has condemned the government’s decision to provide eggs to school children as part of the mid-day meals programme.
According to sources, he said that it is an attempt to change the food culture.
He claimed that children are innocent and they don’t know completely about what they eat. “It is better if the government pays for eggs rather than trying to force people to change their eating habits. It should avoid making a decision that could provoke communal feelings among children,” he said.
He also demanded strict action against forced religious conversions.
