Udupi: Family member of Shiroor Math’s Swamiji Lakshmivaratheertha has filed a complaint with Hiriyadka police suspecting foul play in his death.
Lathavya Acharya, brother of the deceased seer filed a complaint in this regard on Thursday, hours after the death of the seer, which seems mysterious from an outset.
Earlier, Chief Minister HD Kumaraswamy had stated that an inquiry into the death may be ordered if it is necessary provided it is being claimed as an unnatural death. Deputy CM had categorically stated that the probe can be taken up only if someone complains about it.
Mystery shrouded the death of 54-year-old seer and a section raised the demand for CBI probe into the case.
The police have already started the investigations and are looking into various angles soon after a communication of the KMC hospital stated that there are suspicions on the death.
The seer had been vocal about many issues pertaining to illegal activities going on in the Ashtamath, which had changed the equation of the seer with rest of the seers of eight maths.
If not for this unfortunate incident, the seer was to appear before the court against six seers of Ashtamath with whom he had a rift over ownership of idols and appointment of junior to his math.
