Silent protest at Kundapur demanding anti-rape squad

Kundapur: A silent protest was held demanding the formation of an anti-rape squad on Friday night at Shashtri circle, Kundapur.

The protest led by Dr Kalashree, a Doctor at the government hospital was held between 5.30 to 6.30 pm. A procession started from Shashtri circle to the bus stand in which local doctors, students of Ashritha Nursing College, Kota, local organisations and institutions took part.

The leader of the silent protest rally is a doctor at Fr Muller Medical College Hospital, Mangaluru, Dr Noel Mathew. The 25-year-old from Changannur, Kerala, worked day and night to organize the silent protest rally for a month to spread awareness about rape.

“I was very much disturbed due to the increase in rape cases all over India. I don’t want to limit this protest to one particular place or area. The message should spread all over India,” said Dr Noel.

He further said that the demand of Anti Rape Squad (ARS) has been increased in India. Several organisations and institutions are carrying out silent protests for the same. These types of protests should be organised in each and every part of the country.
