Udupi: In a case of theft, a woman lost a gold necklace and cash unawares to a thief. A gold chain worth of Rs. 40,000 and Rs. 1,500 cash were flicked from the woman’s vanity bag while she was travelling in a bus.
According to the report received by the Udupi Town Police, the complainant Udayakumari was travelling from Govinda Kalyana Mantapa in Udupi to the service bus stand in a rickshaw after attending a wedding. She then got onto a private bus plying to Shivamogga and when she checked her vanity bag for her possessions, the zip was open and she could not find the chain and cash.
Udupi Police have booked a case under section 379 (Theft) of IPC. Police are investigating further into the matter. The complainant was travelling along with two of her relatives.
