Three dead as vehicle carrying items for Modi’s Udupi event overturns

Udupi: A tempo, ferrying items for the podium to be set up for PM Modi’s programme to be held at Udupi on May 1 rammed into a roadside electric pole near Perdoor here leaving three people dead on Sunday morning.

As per reports, there were 10-12 labourers on board the Eicher tempo, on its way from Chitradurga apart from the items needed to set up the stage. While one of the injured died on the spot, two others died on the way to the hospital. The rest are undergoing treatment at a hospital here.

The identities of the deceased, who are of Assamese origin is yet to be established.

Negligent driving on part of the driver is said to be the reason behind the accident.

A case has been registered with the Hiriyadka police.
