Kundapur: Two policemen were injured during an attempt to catch cattle traffickers here in Kandlur on Monday October 16.

Acting on a tip-off that few people were illegally transporting 25 cows in a pickup vehicle, the cops had set up barricades to intercept them near Gulvady. However, the persons did not slow down their vehicle and rushed into the barricade and moved towards Kandlur where it was finally intercepted.

The accused assaulted the cops when they tried to arrest them and fled the scene. Two policemen Prashanth Naganna and Ashok are said to have sustained injuries in the incident.

While 15 cows have been rescued, 10 cows have died reportedly due to suffocation.
