Udupi: 2 arrested for burglary in Brahmavar

Udupi: Two persons have been arrested in connection with the theft of gold ornaments and cash worth lakhs of rupees from Rajesh Poojary’s house at Thota Sastana in Pandeshwara Village of Bramhavara Taluk in the District.

The arrested have been identified as 38-year-old Rajesh Devadiga, a resident of Elluru Village and 39-year-old Mohammed Riyaz Hosmar, a resident of Edu Village in Karkala.

The two accused were caught on Sunday January 22 while they were transporting gold ornaments in a car without documents. During interrogation, the accused confessed to having committed house burglary near a church in Sastana. Valuables worth Rs. 19 Lakh including gold ornaments and a car, were seized from the accused.

Investigations have revealed that the two accused met while they were in Hiriyadka Jail and planning to commit house burglary at night by identifying locked houses in Dakshina Kannada and Udupi Districts.
