Udupi: As many as 225 towers have been sanctioned from the Centre for Shivamogga Lok Sabha constituency for improving the telecom system and 27 towers will come up in Byndoor taluk, said MP B Y Raghavendra.
In some places, private telecom companies have set up mobile towers, but in some remote villages, they have not shown any interest in constructing towers due to low habitation. In this regard, a request has been made by the central government to construct the tower and the approval has been obtained, he said.
The district authorities have been asked to hand over 23 locations of the revenue department in Byndoor constituency immediately.He said that details have been provided on the Parivesh portal seeking permission for the construction of towers at places within the forest areas and he has urged the Union Minister to grant permission through the central government at the earliest.
A meeting was held in Shimoga with senior officials of Bsnl under the leadership of the MP to make the mobile towers operational within the stipulated time frame. These projects will be implemented in a timely manner.
