Udupi: About 4,000 blind fish young ones were released on the seashore of Gangolli Estuary Gate on Tuesday March 14 for the benefit of small fishermen.

Byndoor MLA B. M. Sukumar Shetty said that the fish population in the sea has been destroyed in recent times due to adverse weather conditions and changed conditions.

Gangolli Gram Panchayat President Srinivas Kharvi, Members Nagaraj Kharvi, Basava Kharvi, Gangolli Primary Fishermen’s Co-operative Society President Sadashiva Kharvi, Senior Fishermen Ramappa Kharvi, Fisheries Department Joint Director Vivek, Deputy Director Shivakumar, Port Director Kumaraswamy, ADF Sumalatha and local fishermen were present.

A total of 16,800 blind fish young ones have been released to the beach at Gangolli in Kundapur Taluk, 4,000 at Koderi Beach in Byndoor Taluk, 4,000 in Paduvari Estuary and 4,000 in Shirur Alvigadde.
