Udupi: A bike rider and a child got seriously injured when a car crashed head-on with a bike in the Hirgana village in Karkala taluk on Friday December 30.
According to sources, Nityananda Kulal (32), a resident of Kondalke in Andaru village, as well as his niece Rishika (8), have been injured in the accident.
Rishika, a class three student at a Shankarapura English-medium school, had gone to her maternal grandparents’ house for vacation. A Baleno car rammed into her uncle Nityananda while he was taking her from Karkala to Andaru.
They were both severely injured in the collision and rushed to a Manipal hospital. The collision destroyed the bike completely.
A case has been registered at the Karkala City Police Station.
