Udupi: In a shocking incident, a Mahindra Bolero Vehicle was carrying cattle violently near Bachhappu Junction in Hebri in the wee hours of Thursday January 12.
Hebri police, who were checking the vehicle near Sitanadi Kaikambam, instructed them to stop the Mahendra Bolero vehicle which was coming at a high speed from Nadtalu side. But its driver did not stop the vehicle and turned it to the road towards Mudradi and drove at a high speed. The vehicle was chased by the police and the thieves, while trying to escape from the police, lost control near Bachhappu Junction and hit a tree on the side of the road and hence stopped.
However, three miscreants in the vehicle got down from the vehicle and ran towards the forest and escaped from the police.
When the police checked the vehicle, and the removed the seat from the inside, they found that a blue coloured tarpaulin was put on it and five cattle were being violently transported in it.
