Udupi: A 100-bed ESI Hospital for the district has finally given in-principal approval from the Central Government.
However, the allocation of the land for management, construction, and services is yet to be decided. According to sources, the Government of India’s Ministry for Labour and Employment has given the approval for the construction of 23 new ESI Hospitals around the country, including two that will be built in the State.
The State has identified Udupi and Tumakuru as the two areas where ESI Hospitals with 100 bed capacities will be built.
It can be recalled that Ministry of Agriculture & Farmers Welfare and MP of Udupi – Chikkamagaluru districts, Shobha Karandlaje had met Union Labour Minister Bhupendra Yadav. She had discussed about and asked for approval of an ESI hospital for Udupi.
