Udupi: Union Sports Minister Anurag Thakur said that permission will be given to open Sports Science Centres in eight districts of the State soon.
He was speaking after inaugurating a Science Centre at a programme jointly organised by the Udupi District Administration, Zilla Panchayat and the Department of Youth Empowerment and Sports at Mahatma Gandhi District Stadium in Ajjarkadu here. The State Government is giving top priority to sports and all necessary assistance will be provided by the Central Government to the State Government in this regard. He said that all kinds of vocational training required to make the best sportspersons in the world from the country are being imparted and for this, the selection of prospective sportspersons is being done. More money has been allocated for the sports sector than ever before in the Budget, he noted.
The opening of the FM Centre will be reviewed, he added.
