Udupi: Priyanka Mary Francis, Deputy Commissioner of Udupi district along with Laxman Nimbargi, District Superintendent of Police visited the Naxal infested areas in the district in order to encourage the people to vote in the upcoming elections without fear.
The SP and DC visited the Amasebailu Police station limits, Jaddinagadde, Mandi Murukai, Hallihole, Sulgodu, Maddar, Udayanagar and Jadkal areas which come under the Byndoor legislative Assembly and Kundapur legislative assembly constituencies. The SP assured that proper security arrangements were being made to ensure the safety of the people while they go to cast their vote.
There was an interactive meeting held at the Sulugodu Government Higher Primary School in the afternoon on Saturday, April 14, in which around 150 to 200 villagers participated.
Speaking to the villagers, the DC said that they should cast their vote without fear or favour. She also made the people aware of the right to vote.
Informing the people about the facilities being made available for the elections, she said that transport would be provided to those who need to go to far off places to cast their vote. Disabled persons in need of a wheelchair to cast their vote at the polling booths will be provided with the same, she added.
