Udupi: In order to prevent any untoward incidents during Tipu Jayanti celebrations to be observed on November 10, district Deputy Commissioner Priyanka Mary Francis has passed prohibitory orders under section 144 in the district from 9am on November 8 to 9am on November 11.

In an order issued on Monday, the DC said that excluding government programmes, the district administration has banned procession, rallies, protests, public programmes and political meetings in the district.

The district police have beefed up security across Udupi district in view of the prohibitory orders issued by the DC. The DC’s order comes in wake of opposition against the celebrations of Tipu Jayanthi by some political parties.
