Udupi: The Udupi district unit of Bharathiya Kissan Sangh will conduct a one-day district level farmers’ convention at Pervaje Sri Mahalingeshwara Temple premises, Karkala from 9 am to 4.30 pm on December 18.
Speaking with media persons at the district unit office at Udupi, B V Poojary, President of Bharathiya Kisan Sangha, Udupi, said that the prime aim was to bring together farmers from around the district to discuss important agricultural issues. Farmers and the others interested can listen to the experts and progressive farmers at the convention.
He said the Sangha had been active at the village level and through several ways, justice had been obtained for the cause of farming since its inception 20 years ago. The convention is aimed at focussing on market issues faced by the farmers.
Udupi Sathyanarayana Udupa, Secretary of Bharathiya Kisan Sangha said that around 5000 farmers will participate in the convention. The convention will be held in two sessions. Bharathiya Kisan Sangh National President I N Basava Gowda will inaugurate the convention at 10 am on December 18.
The officials of the Bharathiya Kisan Sangha were present during the press meet held at Vasuki Towers, near Old Taluk office, Udupi.
