Udupi: MGM student succumbs to injuries a day after accident

Udupi: Ashmita Suvarna, a PU student of MGM college in Udupi succumbed to her injuries on Saturday, June 17 morning a day after being hit by a speeding car.

Grievously injured Ashmita, a resident of Ambalpady was immediately rushed to KMC Hospital at Manipal for treatment where doctors put in their best efforts to save her.

On the ill-fated day of the accident, Ashmita was on her way back to her home when a Swift D’Zire car travelling at a high speed rammed into her while she was standing on the divider on national highway 66 at Ambalpady here. While Ashmita suffered serious injuries on her head and back, a motorist just happened to have a lucky escape.

Ashmita was an aspiring student and had done extremely well in the recently held SSLC exams in which she secured 96 per cent marks. She was pursuing science at Mahatma Gandhi Memorial (MGM) Pre-University College.

According to the CCTV footages from the spot of the accident the car driver is seen driving in a reckless manner. The police have registered a case in this regard.
