Udupi: A car fell into the sea from the National Highway 66 at Maravanthe late at night on Saturday July 2, leaving one person dead and another missing.
According to sources, the car, moving from Koteshwar to Byndoor on the National Highway 66, veered off-road and fell into the sea.
There were four people in the car at the time of the crash. Another person was reported missing after being swept away by the waves.
Two of the injured passengers have been taken to a hospital. They are reportedly no longer in danger.
The victims’ identities were not immediately known.
To remove the car debris from the sea, fire and rescue services were called.
Police from Gangolli visited the spot and launched an investigation.
