Udupi: In a shocking incident, a woman was duped by a man in City by transferring money online.
Roopashree, a resident of Koteshwar, had bought books online for her education. However, after a week of placing the order, they found that the books had not arrived and searched google for details of the courier company.
According to the complaint lodged at the CEN Police Station, when she called the mobile number, he pretended to be from a courier company, sent a link to Roopashree’s mobile phone, obtained the details and got her to transfer Rs. 80,602 from the HDFC bank account online.
A case has been registered.
